I’ve been doing some RC helicopter reviews with the intention of finding the best ones. As a result I’ve come across with a number of gadgets and toys that really offer a lot to the user. At the beginning I wanted to find something for each expertise level, I felt that to be the best way to go as well as to be more informative, even when I’m still doing that I have to say that during this ride I found some RC helis that were very good to use regardless of the experience level of the hobbyist. These toys are perfect for beginners who want to start with this hobby, intermediates who want to master their flight skills and experts who want to add an RC helicopter to their collection. It was a little hard for me to decide which helicopter to review from these, but after some deep thinking I decided to go with the Blade mCX2 RTF, and if you want to get an advanced toy that is able to simplify many of the issues of the beginner this one is for you.
What is so good about the Blade mCX2 RTF RC Helicopter?
There are very specific things that make this helicopter a great one; the fact is that the whole device is engineered to help anyone to have some fun and if you have been reading my blog and how to guides you know that there are a lot of technical (yet fun and entertaining) aspects compounding the helicopter. The Blade mCX2 includes details that are perfect to start digging deep in regards to these toys and thus have a better taste of what the RC helis world is about and here I would like to invite you to explore this aircraft and discover why it is one of the best toys that you can get.
It is called RTF for a reason!
The advantages of having an RTF (ready to fly) toy are many and the first one is that you don’t have to worry about gluing or screwing anything, this removes a lot of work from the pilot, especially newbies who might not be used to assemble these toys. Another big win about not having to assemble the toy is that the helicopter is already tested and thus the vendor can make sure that it works well; this is not the case with the ARF (almost ready to fly) versions which of course are a lot of fun to assemble, but the risk of installing something is there as well.
The Blade mCX2 RTF RC helicopter comes fully assembled from the factory and it is ready to fly out of the box. It is also important to notice that there is a version called BNF (Bind and fly), this version does not include the transmitter, so don’t let the price cheats you because if you get the version without the transmitter and you don’t have a 4 channels decent one the fun will not come to this party.
The mCX2 is user friendly and a precise RC Helicopter
There are some helicopters that allow users to select a specific performance according with their expertise level, thus pilots can improve their skills in a steady way without risking their chopper. These helicopters usually have a precision swashplate with user-selectable control settings so that they can decide how to operate the ship. The swashplate is a movable disc that determines the speed at which the helicopter moves up or down as well as and the direction in which the whole toy moves, either right and left or back and forth. It is critical to know how to control the swashplate since this part determines a lot about how the RC heli moves and the user-selectable control settings provide flexibility in terms of expertise level.
The Blade mCX2 uses a precision swashplate with user-selectable control settings, thus the ship is suitable both for beginners who want to master this hobby as well as for advanced pilots that want to use all the tools in their tool box. The helicopter is set for a certain level of speed and agility but thanks to the flexibility of control settings it can be set to perform at higher speeds and agility.
A 5 in 1 control system enhances the design of the Blade mCX2 RC Helicopter
The components that are required to build an RC helicopter are many and sometimes it can be a little complicated to replace them or make small fixes just because you could damage another thing installed on the heli. Most micro helicopters these days are working on this issue and building a single control unit that makes things a lot simpler. These units will have everything required for the helicopter to fly installed on them and the best part of it is that this makes a lot easier to repair the RC helicopter in case that it is needed.
The E-Flite Blade mCX2 RC helicopter comes with a 5 in 1 control system unit installed and it has the receiver, the servos, the mixer, the electronic speed controls (ESCs), and the gyro system. This 5 in 1 unit makes it easy to fix and repair any damage on the RC helicopter; it also simplifies the design which has a direct impact on the price of the toy.
The overall look for the E-Flite Blade mCX2 RTF RC heli is Fantastic and Resistant
One of the things that I really enjoy about RC helicopters is their design, and in order for me to buy an RC heli it has to look great or I won’t feel like it worth the money. Something that is many times underestimated about these toys is the overall look, the thing is that it tells a lot about the construction of the helicopter; it also is a good indicator of how the design is and what the RC heli is made for.
This was carefully thought when designing the Blade mCX2 model, this helicopter has a sleek body and also features flashing LED lights. The design has more than just a good look, it was engineered to withstand crashes and chances are that you get some hits if you are new to this hobby; this toy has very flexible parts that won’t break unless you start hitting things at full throttle.
It uses a coaxial main rotor to increase stability
As it has been discussed previously here on RC Hobbies on Air, a coaxial rotor increases the stability of on an RC helicopter; it does this by counteracting something that is called torque reaction, which is the effect of the helicopter trying to spin in the opposite direction of the main rotor blades, with a coaxial rotor blades the torque reaction is eliminated since each pair of blades rotates in opposite direction to each other.
The Blade mCX2 helicopter features a coaxial main rotor blade that makes this micro helicopter incredibly stable. The main rotor blades are super flexible so don’t worry for crashes because they can withstand them.
How much can it cost?
The Blade mCX2 helicopter has a list price of 160 USD and after evaluating several vendors and merchants the very best option is Amazon who is consistently selling this item under 120.00 USD plus free shipping. Amazon offers a great deal not just in price but also in terms of customer service and that is something that I could not find with other merchants.

Some RC Helicopter reviews from current owners
Here I’d like to give you some of the comments and reviews from current customers, these people are actually recommending this toy a lot.
The mCX2 is awesome! It is fun, fast, and easy to fly.
My mCX2 is a couple years old and has been crashed, smashed, and bashed. It easily has 500+ flights and still flies like new. The only parts I’ve had to replace are the blades, balance bar, and landing gear. All are inexpensive.
Parts for the mCX2 are readily available.
All of the electronics on my MCX2 are still original. Big deal right?
One cold winter day I got my heli stuck in the top of a tall pine tree. It was starting to snow and it was getting dark. It was 8 degrees outside. I pretty much chalked it up as a goner.
The next day I climbed the tree and found my heli. It was frozen, so I let it thaw out. A couple hours later I put a new battery in it, and to my amazement it still flew like new.
Bottom line: This is an awesome RC helicopter. It’s quick, it’s fun, and it’s tough. If you’re bored with the 3-channel helis like the S107, this is the perfect 4-channel heli to learn on. The mCX2 is definitely one bad-ass little RC helicopter.
Another helpful review is here from a beginner pilot, learn from his experience why this toy is a must have when speaking about good RC helis to start with:
This was my first purchase of an RC helicopter. I have been hesitant on getting an RC heli due to discussions in years past with RC pilots on how difficult they were to learn to fly. After research online, I decided to “jump” in. WOW! The reviews were dead on. This is so easy to fly and very stable. Right out of the box I was up and flying around the house in minutes. No trimming needed. Easy to control and it flies for about 15 minutes on a charge. You can set the controls low enough that it is virtually impossible to crash. My 8 year old daughter did a successful liftoff and land the first time. I would highly recommend this product to those of you wanting to get a first time RC Helicopter. And to top it off, I received the order 3 days after placing it with Horizon Hobby through Amazon.
Are there any complaints?
I was trying to find any serious problem with this toy through different RC helicopter reviews but the fact is that I couldn’t find anything else besides one or two people who said that the unit came in broke and they got it replaced. However one thing that I consider to be a fault here is the battery charger, this unit runs on batteries and after some twenty or thirty charges the batteries need replacement. The charger can be as well plugged to an AC connector but this one is sold separately. On favor of the Blade Company they include the batteries for the charger so you don’t have to worry about that.
Where can I buy my E-Flite Blade mCX2 RTF RC Helicopter?
As I said earlier the best place that I found to buy this RC heli is Amazon, they not only offer the best price and deal with free shipping but they also have an excellent customer service ready to support you in case that you need them. Amazon has a great reputation around the world for being a great option for people who want to buy things online.
